Nanaimo Squares:
The nanaimo bases are made from paper mache clay mixed with acrylic paint. The centers are made from styrofoam, coated in heavy acrylic modelling paste, mixed with yellow food colouring. The tops are made from air dry clay, primed and painted with acrylics, and sprayed with a satin finish. All three layers were then hot glued together.

Lemon Squares:
The lemon squares are made from one piece of styrofoam cut into a square. The top and bottom are painted on with acrylics, and a layer of high gloss acrylic gel medium was brushed on the tops. A ruler was pressed on its edge along the sides to make an indent between the base colour and lemon top colour. Texture was pressed into the bases and top corners were rolled against the table to round and soften slightly. A toothbrush with some thinned white acrylic was used to spatter the tops for an icing sugar effect.
